Calcium.Network

Decentralized p2p messaging, blockchain and cryptoexchange

About Calcium.Network

Welcome to the adventure.

This is an experiment which is carried out to unite several well-developed technologies into the single ecosystem. It is supposed to become powerful yet simple enough so that you would personally want to use it, or introduce it to your friends and relatives. And may be even years later your kids will use it in everyday life treating it as a default global net. Calcium is something that might change the future Internet as much as the initially invented Internet differs from how we know it now.

Welcome to the Calcium.Network!

What is Calcium.Network?

Access Calcium Network with your own trusted instance of Calcium Node software installed on your desktop PC. Your computer will join the decentralized network which is designed for sending messages, paying and receiving crypto, and doing other fancy stuff.

There are a lot of innovational technological concepts available worldwide at the moment: secure private messaging, decentralized databases known as blockchains (for transferring values), distributed calculations, data storages and others.

Calcium Node is implemented with a collection of well tested open-source solutions. This allows to create a fully functional ecosystem based on the decentralized network. Which might finally find a way to connect all the technological innovations with the real world use cases.

Are there Calcium Services on the network?

Calcium services are still in the very early stage. They are being developed along with the Calcium.Network itself. A lot of ideas are yet to be implemented. But at each step secure implementation and easy of use are on top of the priority list.

Services in development:

  • Messenger
  • Cryptocurrency wallet
  • Decentralized exchange
  • Distributed calculations
  • Distributed storage and content delivery
  • Intellectual property registration
  • Domains and public nicknames registration
  • Voting for network rules, terms and conditions
Who governs Calcium.Network?

All and no one. Truly decentralized network has no single point of control and governance. This is the most significant condition of the experiment.

Network is ruled by the very limited set of basic rules implemented in Calcium Node software. More network participants follow the public agreement on enforcing them - more stable and reliable the network itself will be for the end users.

There is always a way for anyone to initiate public voting on the network rules updates. They can take in effect as soon as suggested changes gain enough support form the active users. The idea is somewhat relative to the consensus model of different blockchain networks.

How is Calcium.Network useful to me?

Each one of us has a freedom of choice - how deep the one is going to dive into the techology. The basic idea of the network is to be useful for any level of user experience.

In everyday life you might probably want to subscribe to public channels, send messages to your friends, and exchange coins with them.

As soon as distributed calculations and decentralized storage get implemented, each Calcium user will be able to sell available cpu resources and hard drive empty space to those who need it.

Professional developers will have an option to develop and run own services on the network, integrate their own products with Calcium transport layer and built-in payments based on UniformFiscalObject blockchain.

For developers

There is an open-source typescript library Calcium Library TS - a complete set of interfaces to work easily with the Calcium.Network, documentation and examples.

Full version of Calcium Node Full written in Golang will also be released open-source as soon as devteam considers it stable enough.

Transport layer is implemented over Websocket SSL and Tox protocols. The layer is extensible, I2P is on todo list.

Payments and public registry is built upon UniformFiscalObject blockchain (former UFOCoin) - http://ufobject.com
